We see design projects as a confluence of two forces, the requirements of the medium and of users, and the goals of the project sponsors. We attempt to bring these two forces together to create uniform momentum toward a single goal.
In projects there are often many different sponsors and many different ideas on what an end result might be.

Managing Risk
Let’s face it; every web project has an element of risk. Like a television show or a film, you often don’t know how successful a project will be until it’s complete, and in front of its intended audience.
Shift has been building websites for almost as long as websites have been around, so we now have a good idea of what works for users and what doesn’t. But more than that, we have developed practices and procedures that minimise the element of risk in any project.
We have a risk mitigation approach that is best described as a “no surprises” policy. Our aim is to quickly establish a relationship of mutual trust. We do this by:
- Clearly defining and prioritising risks and issues;
- Assigning specific responsibility for risk monitoring and resolution;
- Developing creative approaches to risk and issue resolution;
- Having constant reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
