Shift teams up with Google Earth
Extending the client’s reach through content syndication on Google Earth.
Syndication is a great way to expose more people to your web content - especially if it’s served up on a site as popular as Google Earth.
Tourism New Zealand wanted to provide enhanced information about New Zealand’s airports on Google Earth. We worked with Google’s technicians in America and Australia to syndicate airport content from www.newzealand.com to Google’s online satellite tool.
Now when you look up any New Zealand airport there are content “bubbles” that link back to www.newzealand.com. Airports are “places of interest” on Google Earth so TNZ’s content now has even greater visibility to international audiences.
Developing the airport bubbles was new territory for Google and our designers worked directly with them on the content’s look and feel. The word is that they’re hoping other countries will follow our lead.
The project was another rung in our long-term strategy work for TNZ and the stats show it’s paying off, with traffic to www.newzealand.com on the up and up.
