Facebook functionality fires up Council intranet
Shift's intranet for Auckland Regional Council puts people first using Facebook functionality.
When Auckland Regional Council asked Shift to redesign their intranet their top priority was making it easy for their staff to get to know each other.
We responded with an intranet that’s as much fun as Facebook. Staff can create their own page that shows who they are and what they’re into, as well as who they work with and what they’re working on.
Profile pages also act as a diary with meeting reminders, a message service, and most importantly, how many days’ leave you have.
The informal tone carries through to a cartoon character that provides site help, and a range of background styles staff can choose to customise their intranet experience – beach, home, work or outdoors.
As well as a fresh new design, we reorganised the information architecture to make the Council’s vast array of policies, procedures and forms easy to access.
The Council’s refreshing approach to its intranet promotes the idea that everyone benefits when people are happy at work.
